BACKPACKS OF HOPE

Backpacks of Hope is an innovative food program designed to support students experiencing food insecurity. Its primary objective is to provide students with enough food to sustain them over the weekend. Each bag, which costs $11, contains two breakfast items, two lunch items, three dinner items, snacks, juice, and chocolate milk.

Currently, the program operates in 22 schools spread across three different school districts, providing essential nourishment to over 850 students each week. Eligible students are identified by school counselors, teachers, or administrators, who then contact the Hope Creek Charitable Foundation to request the much-needed bags of food.

VOLUNTEER

There are many opportunities to volunteer to help the Backpacks of Hope program. We are always looking for help assembling the outreach kits and distributing the kits to all of our partner schools.

FINANCIAL DONATION

The Backpacks of Hope program is supported by Hope Creek, a charitable organization recognized by the IRS, operated by a small staff and many volunteers. Your donations are crucial to the ongoing community outreach of this program. Please click "donate" to give a financial donation today.

As the program continues to gain popularity, we remain dedicated to expanding our reach and impact in our community. There are many more children in our area experiencing hunger, and we are committed to helping them in any way we can. We believe that no child should have to go to bed hungry, and with each $11 backpack of food, we are one step closer to achieving that goal.

Backpacks of Hope provides weekend meals for children and their families every week of the school year (approximately 40 weeks of the year). We believe in feeding both the children and their parents. If you want to get involved in packing, leading a food drive at a local grocery store, or donating to this program, contact us at volunteer@hopecreekcf.org

The Backpack program sends groceries home weekly on Fridays with over 850 school children from 22 schools and we are growing!

TESTIMONIAL

Can you imagine a five year old child preparing a healthy meal for themselves every day?

What if that child expressed excitement that they would much rather spread peanut butter on a tortilla instead of bread because the bread tears too easily?

What if that child also stated that there was not an adult around to provide healthy lunches daily?

Heartbreaking isn't it?

This is just one story, but there are many like it in this particular school. We are reminded daily why our backpacks program is so important. With your help we are able to provide these children their basic food needs and support them as they grow.
