BACKPACKS OF HOPE

Backpacks of Hope is a program dedicated to supporting students facing food insecurity, ensuring they have enough food to sustain them over the weekend. Each backpack, costing $11, includes two breakfast items, two lunch items, three dinner items, snacks, juice, and milk, providing well-balanced nourishment for students in need.

Currently, the program serves 500 students across 20 schools in two school districts. School counselors, teachers, and administrators identify eligible students and coordinate with the Hope Creek Charitable Foundation to ensure these vital food bags reach those who need them most. We believe that no child should go to bed hungry, and with each $11 backpack of food, we are one step closer to achieving that goal.

Through Backpacks of Hope, we’re helping children focus on learning—not hunger. 💙

Backpacks of Hope provides weekend meals for children every week of the school year (40 weeks a year).

The Hope Creek Charitable foundation operates the Mill Creek Food Bank and the Backpacks of Hope because we believe in feeding children and their parents. If you want to get involved in packing bags, leading a food drive, or donating to this or any food program, contact us at foodbank@hopecreekcf.org

TESTIMONIAL

Can you imagine a five-year-old preparing their own meals every day?

Now picture that child feeling excited because they’ve figured out that spreading peanut butter on a tortilla is easier than using bread—because bread tears too easily.

What if that same child also shared that no adult is around to provide them with a healthy lunch each day?

Heartbreaking, isn’t it?

This is just one story, but there are many more like it in this school. It’s a daily reminder of why our Backpacks of Hope program matters. With your support, we can continue providing these children with nutritious meals—helping them grow, learn, and thrive. 💙
