backpacks of hope

BACKPACKS OF HOPE provides weekend meals for children and their families every week of the school year. (approximately 40 weeks of the year). We believe in feeding both the children and their parents. In the 2015-16 school year we served 100 families weekly from local schools in the Everett, Snohomish and Edmonds School District. We hope to add an additional 50 families for the 2016-17 school year.

Backpacks are filled on Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings. If you want to get involved in packing , leading a food drive at a local grocery store, or donating to this program, complete the volunteer form. There is a Food Bin in the lobby of Gold Creek Church where you can drop off donations Monday-Friday between 8:30 AM-4:00 PM.

Come garden with us! We understand that eating a healthy diet is important and not always possible when on a budget. Our Community Care Garden provides fresh vegetables for those in need in our community, 60% of our harvest is donated to the Mill Creek Community Food Bank, 20% to Tailgate dinners (which feed the homeless in downtown Everett) , and the remaining 20% is given to families and volunteers in our own community. Last year we were able to donate 750lbs of fresh produce to our local families!

Work parties are each Saturday from April-September starting at 9:00 AM. Stop in and garden and learn with us.
